Ray,
I will try the 7296 USB MMRCG net at ten if I am free. Do I have to use a Mil radio to join that net or can I join "on-patrol" while working portable? I've worked the 18.157 net frequently and get good reports.
60 meters is really challenging when the sun is high at noon. Local noise does not help; another incentive to work from a quiet location. The band is better in the morning and in the evening but FT-8 takes over on 5357 at dusk.
Remind me - what time the Red Ball MRCA nets at Gilbert on Friday, Sept. 26.

The only issue is occasionally we have a AM Troll that comes on and complains about us operating on the AM calling frequency, 7290 but been quiet lately. I have been playing around with 18.157 being they have a huge net every afternoon where you can check in and everyone on the net gives a signal report. Seventeen meters has great range and you only need a small antenna.
