Way to go, Mark!  Nice set-up too.

Back in the mid-1950s when I was just a teenaged SWL, I used a BC-453 
to DX the beacon band, but those years were near the big peak in the 
solar cycle so DXing wasn't very good in that band.  Anyway, I had a 
lot of fun and learned a lot about the radio and the beacons.  Sounds 
like you have already done most of that!  Carry On!
