The BC-659 is a great set and a favorite among a lot of vehicle owners.
You might have on hand  crystals Crystals 271(A) 27.1and 272(B) 27.2
which will put the set close to  a couple of CB channels which can
provide some interesting listening and is great for monitoring band
openings.(slope detect)   In addition a crystal on a channel  just above
30.0  mc such as 301 will allow some of the vehicle owners to crank
their 77's and 25's down for a test to see if you can hear them.  Ten
meters is starting to come alive - -  I have been hearing short bursts
on my 524 tuned to Red Flag channels. Two videos are posted below, the
2nd one of a bench test has a short clip of  a solid state vibrator and
a home brew bias battery pack.

It is also not capable of operating using repeaters. I don’t know if your set is compatible. If it is, as long as the MRCA doesn’t have a problem with your Arden PCS2800, I don’t. My BC-659 operates on 29.6 MHz ( 10 meter Simplex ) and 29.1 MHZ.
