I'm passing this thread from MMRCG along to MRCA. - Al

Ray,

It's way up north<https://www.google.com/maps/place/High+Point/@41.3206441,-74.6965714,13z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89c346f56cbf1a9f:0xcec2957da85ba80c!8m2!3d41.32065!4d-74.6615515!5m1!1e4>, but literally the highest point in NJ. I believe some of the New England guys will be camping there.

Dam, the earth is round. Forgot that one! Where that high point in Central/North Jersey? If we get someone with a radio and an omni set up there that may be a great relay point, wonder if we can get Jeff (KG2BZ) and his mutt to be a center point?
Also don't we have some members out at the old Nike Base (NY-56) at Sandy Hook ? maybe we can do an obsolete coastal defense network?

Yeah, it looks like this:

And I don't think they're accounting for the curvature of the earth.
At InfoAge we might have a shot from High Point in northern NJ (1800 feet)
[cid:part2.31CC88CD.13727623 at ar88.net]
Plots from: https://www.scadacore.com/tools/rf-path/rf-line-of-sight/

I don't really know who all we have in Jersey.

112 miles is a long path, did not realize that we would have to cross that much land. Need someone in central Jersey as a relay.

Hi Ray,

Not much water, but we're up on a bluff about 40 feet. Might work.

Don't know if I can pull it off or not but will try to get access to the high parking lot at Fort Miles, Cape Henlopen State Park Delaware. Its one of the highest points on the coast around here and I can set up my AS-2815 beam antenna and with high gain antennas and both of us being on the coast maybe we can make it. Maybe one of the smart people can do a plot and see if it's possible? Assume it's not line of sight but may be a clear path being over water.

My antenna is rated at 4.5 db gain with a front to back ratio of 7.5 db at 50 MHz and I would be driving it with a VRC-12 transceiver running around 50 watts with a sensitivity of around ¾ of a micro volt.

Would assume that the antenna heading for hitting your operation would be dead north?

Gang,

While making early preparations for MRFD, I came to the realization that, unlike ARRL FD, this is a one day event, happening entirely on Saturday, 26 Sept. 2020, US time.

1300 Hrs. UTC, 26 September = 09 AM EDT Saturday
0200 Hrs. UTC, 27 September = 10 PM EDT Saturday
(Duh!)

SEE: http://www.mrca.ar88.net/field_day/Military%20Radio%20Field%20Day.pdf

I checked with the event organizer, and my interpretation is correct.

This changes my thinking about the event, and I like it better this way.

I'd like to organize a team at W2RTM<http://w2rtm.ar88.net/> at Camp Evans, near Belmar, NJ (FN20xe). We ran ARRL FD here the last two years, and have decent facilities. KD2RMQ is threatening to bring a military 6-meter antenna on a 30-foot mast, so maybe we can even do some damage on 51.0 MHz.

So, I'd like to hear from anyone interested in showing up, so I can make proper arrangements. That might even mean food. I'm making a list.....

73,
Al
