?Hi Ray, I think you are thinking of a more "modern" 117 radio They go up to 117-117G. Very different radios through the models.  The plain 117 is a 30-90 radio. Looks more paramiltary than military (but I don't know how it was deployed). N3FRQ has one of these radios as does K2AJR.

Arm, leg and first born child. Will that radio work without the security card? I am more a Motorola fan myself with things like the URC-110 or my new URC-200 that took an effort to get one without breaking the bank. But cannot imagine the Harris would sell for less than 2K, then again don't know the market for high end green radios these days? I would like to get hold of an AN/GRC-215 but cannot find any available at any price.
