[MRCA] BC-611 PS

I've worked on several radios that have had the power supply installed.
Evidently the power supply was made in several different versions with
improvements on the later versions. You may experience a very slight
amount of inverter noise. For a while the inverter contacts did not seem
to fit the bottom door contacts on certain models but that seems to have
been corrected. Take a peak as you close the door to make sure all
contacts are being made as you may have to make adjustments.
Recently I measured voltages under actual transmitter and receiving
conditions with fresh batteries and the transmitter  loaded for maximum
output. (Use Field Strength Meter)
110 VDC on receive.
97 VDC when transmitting (with fresh batteries)

Current draw on the 3 D cells in series powering the high voltage Inverter:
Receive 250 mills
Transmit 510 mills with fresh batteries and transmitter loaded properly.

Turn on: The inverter starts up by sensing filament current draw when
the antenna is extended on the BC-611. Turns off when the antenna has
been retracted. I assume a line sense relay is installed for this purpose.

Heating: Ioperated the unit continuously on receive for 5 minutes and 1
minute on transmit then removed the inverter  but could not feel any
heat on the inverter case.

CAUTION: Do not test without a proper load. Be careful when extracting
the unit from the case as I don't think any bleeder resistors were
installed on all the models but this may have been corrected. Handle
with care - - keep away from the power supply contacts after removing
from the radio or discharge with a resistor load.
WANTED: Someone to go to Cape May  with a BC-611  and establish a over
water contact to Ft. Miles.
