[MRCA] Free equipment

Interesting thought, they were in production in 1940 up to late 41 and stopped until 45. Just hard for me to imagine producing a radio like that with all the fat government contracts available. Have to go back and look at the 42 and 43 QST and see if the EC-1 was listed that early. Also have to wonder about the Italy legend and production there but that may just be a case of me making a mistake and believing to many Hamfest stories.
Think that National had the HRO-5 and the later HRO-5A out for Ham sales before or right after the end of the war.

Ray,
I strongly suspect that the production of sets like the SX-25 dwindled to zilch after Pearl Harbor Day, but things spun back up pretty quickly after JV Day in August 1945. Hence 1940-1945.
Now, the Echophone EC-1 may be a different matter. EC stands for Echophone Commercial. I think the plan was to continue production despite the War on the basis that it was a commercial product rather than consumer. Hallicrafters, and Private Hogarth, advertised the EC-1 throughout the war years. Does anyone know if they were actually available. Maybe in the PX?

Not that I want the receivers but was wondering, The boys book of Hallicrafters says the SX-25 was produced from 1940 to 1945. How is it that Hallicrafters had the resources to keep producing Ham equipment during WW2? would have thought that all of their production would have shifted to the war effort by early 42? looking at the old WW2 QST almost the only add for new equipment was that Echophone EC-1 pile of junk? also on the subject have been told the EC-1 was produced in occupied Italy, is that true? would explain a lot.

Not MIL gear but the price may be right. I have two Hallicrafters SX-25
receivers. One really nice condition and re-capped unit was on the
bench and doing fine. Then... poof. The other was awaiting fire-up.
I've decided to simply cease this, and other, restoration projects and
actually try and use all the new and old gear I have. How's that for a
concept! Free to whomever might choose to pick them up in Central
Maryland. If No Joy, I'll simply pull the tubes and out they go. Xin Loi.
