[MRCA] Off topics, but......

Hi Dean,

Visiting Radio Row was like going to a big hamfest. I made my first trip
in 1958 shortly after getting my novice ticket (WV2AUI). I always came
home with something, but my purchases were quite random and based on
affordability rather than utility (heck, I was only 13 and didn't have a
shack plan). Some of the stuff survived, and is still in my shack
(mostly command set items, and my prized BC-1306), all visible in my QRZ
pic.

I revisited the area in '81, taking the subway down to Cortlandt St. The
subway station looked and smelled the same. I climbed the same worn
stairs to the street. But instead of arriving at the corner of Cortlandt
and Broadway, I was in the lobby of one of the WTC buildings! Bummer. I
walked the entire perimeter of the WTC, and found that it had consumed
Radio Row in its entirety. But I bet that somewhere underground, there's
a least  a dynamotor or a tube socket!

73, Bud

PS - On that first trip, I purchased a AN/ARR-2 nav receiver with DM-32
dynamotor for $2.95. I still have the dynamotor! And it still works!
