Here is a photo of the Russian equivalent of the AN/ARC-8 on an IL-14. In this case the nomenclature is R-807 is the transmitter and US-9 is the receiver. As I mentioned in a previous post, the "monitor/normal" switch is on the key. The original photo is dark but came out bright and sharp after I downloaded it and touched it up with Photoshop. Interesting that the Russian equivalent of the AN/ARC-8 system the Monitor/Normal switch is on the Morse key. The special model key for this setup (the model nomenclature eludes me now) is a covered key and the switch is on top of the lid, seems more convenient for the operator.

I had hoped to see the R-584 / R-589 versions of the BC-348.
For that, you will need the manual for the AN/MRC-20, showing the R-584/MRC-20 and R-589/MRC-20.
Also, i wished the manual had shown where the netting switch was installed on the BC-348.
I have never seen such a switch as part of the BC-348-*.
There is a MONITOR-NORMAL switch used with the BC-348-* in SCR-287-A (BC-375-*) and AN/ARC-8 (AN/ART-13A) systems to net the receiver and the transmitter, but it is external to the receiver and transmitter and is usually located on the operating desk just right of the receiver. In MONITOR, it prevents the receiver from being muted when the transmitter is
keyed.
Also, the switch disconnects transmitter sidetone from the audio bus so that the audio bus carries only the beat note from the receiver that is generated as the transmitter and receiver frequencies are adjusted to each other. A switch internal to the receiver would not have access to the sidetone circuit.
