Gents:
My HT-202 and -404 HTs both had soldered-in CR2032s for memory backup.
I replaced both with a similar batt holder and individual 2032s. I've
replaced both at least once since the original installation about 10 years
ago. It's the right thing to do when the devices outlive the internal
batts.

Eugene,
That's a sufficiently good idea that I just ordered a couple, just in case.
The soldered-down batteries in a lot of this stuff make me nervous. They
were a good choice for the first ten years, but now we own the equipment.

Hi folks, I thought I'd share something I am attempting with this radio. The
holdup battery on the processor card is dead so I want to replace it. The
correct battery appears to be this:

1942
however, I don't know how many times the pads on the PCB will support
replacing the battery. So I've decided to try this:

it holds a larger CR2032 battery with much more mAH than the original BR1225
battery. I will try to fit this holder into one of the spare card slots.
This will allow me to change the battery again in the future without having
to desolder/resolder. And switch it off if I want, but I don't know if I
would have a good reason to switch it off.
I'll let you know how well it works once it arrives.
