[MRCA] PRC-104B CONT pinout, was: Audio "Y" Cable For PRC-104

As others have expressed an interest, I figure I'll post to the group.

The PRC-104B "CONT" connector is meant to connect to the STAJ hopping
controller. This apparently never made it to production, VERY few are still in
existence, and nobody has ever seen the cable which connects them. The
connector is a complete custom item and I can't even figure out who made it.
None I have examined have a logo, only a part number which is specific to the
PRC-104B.

The pinout is as follows:
1: 1.25 MHz clock out +
2: 1.25 MHz clock out -
3: ground
4: Serial Data in +
5: Serial Data out +
6: Serial Data out -
7: ground
8: Serial Data in -
9: ground
10: ground
11: Modem Transmit Audio
12: ground
13: Modem Receive Audio
14: ground
15: ground
16: ground
17: +28 V out from radio
18: ground
19: Remote mode select

The + and - signals are bipolar RS-422 digital data. Protocol is high speed
using the 1.25 MHz as a bit clock, byte oriented, odd parity. This is to allow
100 hops per second (!). Nobody seems to know any more than that, but I'm
slowly working on it.

Pin 19, when grounded, puts the PRC-104B into remote controlled mode. If you
ground this pin the "RMT" indication on the LCD turns on and the buttons are
inactive.

Pin 17 supplies power to the hopping controller.

Pins 11 and 13 are line level audio to and from the analog modem in the hopping
controller, used for sync training for the hopping sequence.

Hope this helps.

Peter
