And here is the report from the hinterlands,

On the Sat AM net, signals were a bit weaker than normal,
but, everybody was covered up by horrific QRN.  The
Sunday CW net was good, quiet band, and fair signals, although
I have heard the band better.

Rig was an AN/ARC-2, but using an R-390A for receive.  3830 had
a strong SSB QSO on it up until the top of the hour, at which
time it became clear.  I heard Breck, and Eugene, and a few faint
carriers that I couldn't ID. Breck was about 20db on the R-390s meter,
good copy at first, but if he acknowledged me, I didn't hear it.

A few minutes later, the frequency was clobbered by adjacent channel
SSB on both sides.
