[MRCA] suggestion for M&S net

Ok, I am probably using the wrong term then. Today, because I couldn’t hear net control, I wasn’t sure when there was a call for any new stations at the end of the list. I guess if I had heard other stations checking in with their call signs, I would have put mine in too. But what I heard was a station send back to net control and then a minute or two later I heard the station at the top of the list again. Of course, I could have injected my call during that station's transmission, but didn’t want to trample on anyone.

In MARS nets, the proword "Relay" means "I can hear someone that you, Mr. NCS, cannot and would like to drop his callsign into the roster on his behalf." NCS usually then asks for the relay of info to take place. Also SOP in MARS nets is for the NCS to appoint an alternate NCS at the beginning of rollcall who also records check-ins' callsigns and assumes NCS duties if the main NCS goes off air for a period of time.

I would like to suggest that whoever is net control ask for a relay when the check ins occur at the top or the bottom of the list. Maybe a secondary person somewhere else (i.e. N3RFQ and secondarily WA2JWU). That would help when the NC is not audible to the stations wishing to check in. This way other stations might hear the call for check ins from the relay station. Just a thought.
