Yo Steve...
The GRR-5 is an "OK" receiver but not on par (arguably) with the
BC-348. The frequency range is about the same, sans the low freq band.
If you pick up a GRR-5, it will probably need to be re-capped, as well
as the selenium rectifier replaced. The GRR-5 is a battery tube unit
(1.5 and 3v tubes) and it runs off a vibrator, ac or dc mode. A few
"battery tubes" are getting a bit expensive, although I can't vouch for
those in the GRR-5. The vibrator can be a logistics issue, too, but
replacement with a 1.5v TO-220 regulator can solve that potential
issue. It boils down to what do you want? I'd take the '348, hands
down, for actual operations and maintainability. Collecting? They both
are in that category.....

I realize the bc348 has a crystal filter. The angry 5 is dirty but the inside is clean. It looks like a grc 9 rcvr with an additional band. Is the selectivity the same as a grc 9 / wide as a barn ?
