Gents:

I believe we’ve proven the efficacy of NVIS antennas many times over recent years at Gilbert. No reason not to try a low dipole on all the low bands (160 through 40M.) My AS-2259 knock-off antenna (RESONANT dipoles on any two of 80, 60 or 40 hung as inverted V’s at right angles to each other) works just fine with the feedpoint at 19 feet AGL.

Jeff,

I keep coming back to this simulation via easynec:

Blue is a half-wave dipole at modest height. Red is a 10-foot vertical over average ground. Can you say "24 db down"? That make your 20 watts look like less that 100 mW in a dipole.

I had a 25-foot vertical on the roof of the other Jersey City house with an SGC auto tuner at it's abse. It did better than above, but left a 200 mile in diameter doughnut hole in local coverage.

Hey Guys Poor conditions on m&S today went out on Patrol, with the PRC-174 and a Home brew 60M Verticle heard N3OD/NN2K/KW1I and WA2WOL N3FRQ
WA2WOL was the loudest Sig here along with NN2K Followed by KW1I Only got a few words from N3FRQ and got most Of N3OD we'll try it again But I'm thinking that a NIVS dipole is a Much better antenna than a Verticle! Jeff W1AEA
