[MRCA] ARC Type 12 "Packaging"

Hi Mike - no offense taken! LOL Always learning....
I have used both types of mics with the T-12 and they sound fine. The
"catalog" pages I have seen from ARC show an RS-38 type but I was not aware
of the differences with the number of holes....As a post WWII radio I
understand they were used by the military in early helo's and liaison A/C
mostly - but wouldn't those have been with boom or maybe throat mic's
instead of a hand-held carbon type? Dunno. I can't find any references to
*specific* types of military A/C that had T-12's installed however, I'm
guessing that their size and light weights were major attributes in smaller
A/C...
ARC T-12 Trivia: The comm equipment in the first high altitude balloon
free-fall parachuting experiments (Col Joe Kittinger - Project Excelsior)
used an ARC Type -12 transmitter for telemetry comms to the ground
station...(maybe voice comms too, I don't know that for sure)
I used RS-38's with an ARC-94 and also ARC-120 HF sets in the 1970-80's in
the Navy and the mics seemed like antiques but they worked....
Yep - the altimeter is the real deal. It works up to 100,000 feet so it
probably came from some kind of Fast Mover. I took it to work once and put
it in a vacuum chamber with a calibrated pressure gauge and pumped down to
100,000 feet equivalent altitude and it was right on the money.
Impressive. Here's a shot at a somewhat lower campsite elevation....(Pay
no attention to the CB Radio behind the curtain....)
