The snatch connectors are easy to clean. Use Brasso or a Q-Tip or
toothbrush, then flush with clear water.

Not using the Variometer causes TVI issues. It is designed to resonate an
electrically short antenna, and forms a very high Q filter. It also has a
current transformer for the antenna current.

Both the ARC-5s and WS19 got a bad reputation for TVI because hams thought
they knew better than the set designers. Used as DESIGNED they work just
fine.
