years, and I haven't heard any complaints.

However, for the way you're likely to use the radio, it might make more 
sense to stack up some 9-volt alkalines, and appropriate D and AA cells, 
and be done with it.  I'll be amazed if you operate the set for more 
than 5 hours a year.
