Breck says not to be a weenie and bring a PRC-68, be a man and carry
around a PRC-6. So I re-stuffed my old original battery with the same
layout as his in the metal tray. OK, so it fires up and on to alignment
using a Fluke 177. All the readings on the meter agree with what it's
telling me to do so all seems good. I attach my PRM-34 test set and I
get 51.035Mhz and .5 watts power out. Now on the the real test to
communicate with another radio. First thing I notice is no side tone so
I tried it with my good H-33 handset, still no side tone. So here is
where I am at, I have very good receive, quieting on tx, power out on tx
but no side tone or modulation. I tried replacing V10 with a new tube
and still no joy. Pete is reading this saying I told you so, as he knows
I have bought several of these with none working to date. It has a neat
paper folded up under the battery card when it was tested new from the
factory. So looking for any ideas on what to try next.
Thanks
