Absolutely. We'll be running short range op's Saturday on the
Fairgrounds, and KW1I is identifying some local deployment sites within
a couple of miles. I'll run Moose & Squirrel at noon on 5357 USB for
those that are still at home. I also hope to have the PRC-117D with
noise squelch and decent speaker standing by in the Howell Building
through out the two days to encourage /ad hoc/ 51 MHz FM contacts.

I'd like to do the same thing for 3885 AM, but the VRC-19 is overkill,
and I don't think it has a squelch. Anybody have something that will do
a couple of watts on AM, has a squelch, and it's own (short) antenna and
AC supply? I guess that could be the FT-817, but we should have
something cooler than that.

I will be working half day Friday and not get there until late Friday and always look forward to Saturday regardless of the fact that I have to hear from Mr. Smith about all the bargains that I missed on Friday. I know in the past we have conducted nets on Saturday but they don’t appear to get the same attention as the Friday stuff gets. The 3885 and 51.0 Cold war nets are always one of the highlight for me at Dayton and would think it would be good to have a similar regularly scheduled set of nets at Gilbert that would always start at the same time and have a fixed net control station for the low power portable close in stuff. Maybe we can squeeze in a VHF AM net too?
