In my humble opinion, if I can't reasonably expect that I can fix it
when it breaks, or have some LOG support nearby and accessible, I won't
touch it, anymore. Years ago when I worked for a ITT/EPL, our small
special projects group (all but one was a ham) had a saying: "One
always needs two, a pair, and a spare." That way, there's always an
out. Although I fully appreciate the current and near-current green
radio sets, I choose not to acqiure any of them and I don't do "static
displays". For me, anything more than a GRC-19, and maybe... maybe a
GRC-106, and that's it. Also, my days of ready access to current T.O.
s and TMs is past. I think my last manual pick-up was for a couple of
PRC-68B UHF sets. I'll think I'll just hang with my ARC-8's and
such..... Urrrah!
