[MRCA] GRC-9 Bias Battery Needed

Mark,

If you come up with an original plug-in battery it will almost
certainly be dead. Three cells pulled from a common 9 volt battery
will fit neatly inside the plug-in if you can pry the plastic case
open without destroying it (some pop open easily and some don't).
Failing that, get a 3 x AAA holder and mount it at some convenient
location on the receiver chassis. For another solution see <http://www.tuberadio.com/robinson/museum/GRC-9/
 > It's also been reported that a 3 volt Li camera battery will work
OK.

The BC-1306 predecessor to the GRC-9 tapped negative voltage off the
HF oscillator circuit to bias the audio PA. Different oscillator
circuit in the GRC-9 but might be possible to pull the same trick and
thereby eliminate the battery problem forever.

Good luck,
