Chris, your question is a good one and made me think. The RT is in a shelf, but there are no electrical connections with the shelf (it’s a wotan shipping case internal frame). But you got me thinking, were I to acquire a different base, made for this radio, would that facilitate integrating it into a VIC system? Was there a base like an MT-1029 (or similar) for this radio that also provided electrical hookup?

Vic 1 doesn't have to be in vehicle many people use them in shacks as amplifier headsets...
But my question was related to the radio itself, is it mounted in a proper base or do they want to set it on the seat and integrate it?

Let me clarify is it in a vehicle mount or just back pack?

Hi there. Anyone know/have information about how/if a RF-5000 or 5200 (PRC-138) can interface with the VIC-1 system? Some way to create a cable that ultimately ends up with the 18 pin standard VIC-1 connector?
Do such cables exist or must they be made from scratch. If so, anyone have a diagram outlining how to do this either with a 5020 or PRC-138? This retransmit rabbit hole gets deeper!
