That is a very good question.  One may be certain that no HF command sets
were flying in front line combat aircraft in the Korean War.  As I just
posted, it is likely that many USMC aircraft utilized UHF-AM command sets
like the AN/ARC-12.  By war's end the famous AN/ARC-27 would be available.

Frankly, I always doubt assertions made for pictures showing HF gear being
used to coordinate aircraft activity.  It was common to stage photos, and
the one (with the cleaning rod for the M2 .50 cal MG stuck in the ground
near the RT-77) seems to be such, IMHO.
