I checked into USAF MARS net this AM (frequency is
confidential but somewhere between 6 and 9 Mcs)
and could hear exactly one station out of
approximately 25.
Terrible conditions. Nothing but occasional words
heard on M and S net.

Subject: [MRCA] Today's Moose & Squirrel
Gang,
Conditions for today's net were a little
difficult. I generally take a
look at the Australian Government HF site for
propagation info:
http://www.ips.gov.au/HF_Systems/6/6/1 (Select New
York Radio CARA)
Here's a capture of today's map, 11:00 EDT:
http://www.mrca.ar88.net/HAP_9-8-11.PNG
Analysis:
Recommended aircraft band for the region is 6.8
MHz. So we might have
been better off on 40M, but it generally close
enough for our putposes.
Note the message "SOLAR FLARE IN PROGRESS"
Also note the white dashed lines indicating "no
suitable freq or high
absorption."
From my point of view, that's exactly what we
had.
CLOSE TECHNOWEENIE MODE.
Regards,
Al
