Great signals today... all stations were Q5, even KB3SBC running 5 watts.
For those who couldn't copy me, I was operating the PRC1099A putting 20W into the 9' whip antenna. The operating location was the Long Island Sound, aboard the "John H." Cross Sound Ferry. Departed Orient Point, NY at 12:00 ET... arrived New London, CT at 1:20 ET. I was wearing the transceiver on my back with no drag wire counterpoise due to safety concerns about other passengers tripping on it. I signed my call "marine mobile" but I don't know if I should have signed "marine mobile", or "pedestrian mobile", or maybe even "pedestrian marine". I do know this... my signal got out.
After the net, several stations went up to 40 meters and I was able to work both N3FRQ and K3OP /P. From my location, singals were stronger on 40M than 60M, especially KB3SBC. After that, I made several contacts on 17 meters with stations in Ft Lauderdale FL, Nashville TN, Sag Harbor NY, and even briefly with KB0SFP out in Missouri just before the ferry docked.
Today was a good day.
