[MRCA] Invitation to connect on LinkedIn

They may be, but from what I've been told by victims that have been
abused, they actively try to hide the opt-out for address scans. That
means the default setting is that your address book is compromised and
invites get sent to everybody. FaceBook does a similar thing.

The first time I was hit with this was with a personal friend, a woman,
who joined LinkedIn to find somebody's address and had her address book
hijacked.

When I called LinkedIn at the time, they admitted the opt-out was hard to
find and many people don't even think to look.

A similar ruse is used by eBay to make sales "PayPal ONLY" the default. I
lost out on a very nice ARB mount because I don't use PayPal.

Oh, and unless the OP is put on Moderation, the invite will come again,
and again, and again. I reject several such posts a week.

YMMV,

-John

key is not to follow the links in apparent LinkedIn email invitations.
