[MRCA] Japanese Key - Seeking Info

Al -

I had several keys similar to yours, but, not exactly the same. The
difference being is that on mine, there is no switch or label on the front
for the switch, and, the key only has two binding posts instead of four. I
have two left. For one of those I have pretty decent provenance as I
purchased it from the soldier who brought it back from Japan. This was 10
years ago and he was 85 at the time. He wrote a lengthy letter to me as to
how he acquired it. To make a long story short, he and his other Signal
Corps JASCO guys were patrolling around the USS Missouri on the day the
treaty was signed. After, they landed on shore and they confiscated a
communications van, and evicted the Japanese. He grabbed the key as a
souvenir. His son advertised it on one of the reflectors or BBSs then. I
made an offer and they actually thought it was too much, and, essentially
cut it in half. I asked the owner, an ex mayor in a Pennsylvania Borough, to
write me the details as to how he obtained it, and, he did. Someday when we
see each other again, I'll be happy to show you the letter as well as the
key. 73 - Mike

Gang,

This key's been in my collection for a few years.
http://www.skywaves.ar88.net/mil/J-key/J-key.html

I'm trying to verify it's actual application. My SWAG is it may have
been used in a two-place aircraft like a "Val." You'll see what I mean.

Any help appreciated,
Al
