Ladies and Gents and To Whom It May Concern:
I have been working with the new Peter Dahl Co. regarding development of
a special power transformer specifically for the ART-13/ATC
transmitter. The design is a single transformer, CCS ratings, that will
provide both the requisite 1100v and 400v B+ voltages via FW/CT windings
and is designed for capacitor input filter. The CCS (not ICAS) rating
of the _each_ winding will be 300ma. DC. Primary voltage will be
117/230v AC 60 Hz. The quoted cost for 1-4 units is $225. The weight
of each is said to be about 18 lbs. Not a light-weight, at all! I
priced out the rough equivalents in two Hammond transformers and came up
with about $180-$200 for the two required units. The voltages, however,
are not tailored to the ART-13. I have a couple of friends who are
already in for one at the 1-4 price. If I/we can find others
interested, the company will offer a price break. Perhaps we can do a
group buy, with each person ordering under a group order. I have no
desire to get into the business, so it'll have to be a group effort.
Please let me know as I/we will probably be ordering within the next few
weeks so as to get our power supplies under way.
Also, be advised that the transmitter will still require 28v DC at about
8 amps for relays, filaments, and the autotune. I did not approach that
issue with this transformer, however.
