Tom, 
It seems to me that 669's come in two basic varieties; those that get on 
the air easily and those that don't.  I've been down the slope twice.  
One of my units, among other events, required 100% replacement of the 
postage stamp caps.  I'd never had to wholesale change that type of cap, 
but on this one I did.  The other unit was an ex-CAP unit and had been 
in almost continuous use up through the mid 70's.  It was a tune-up and 
go.   I think you'll find that the plug-in electrolytics in the PE-110 
will also need changing out.  You are correct about the PE-103, its not 
for the SCR-543.  The gas generator was the PE-108.   The power 
connector is a special variant of the Cannon series.  I was never able 
to obtain a spare from Bill Perry, or anyone else.  Hopefully, you 
already have the PE-110 to BC-669 cable. Aside from the receiver being 
super-wide and having a "special" sound to it... they make fine, 
operational pieces.  And, with a good quality carbon mic or a powered 
D-104, they sound very nice.
