There has been a lot of discussion on the NVIS re the AS-2259s. They don't work well on the 80 and 40 meter ham bands because they are resonant at 6 and 9 Mhz. A better choice for amatuer NVIS would be a set of 40 and 80 meter inverted vees, either fed from one feed line, or seperate ones, oriented 90 degrees from each other, and supported by a single 20 to 30 foot central mast, and nominal 6 foot masts at the ends to keep them elevated enough so people wont be running into them. I have used this arrangement for many years, and they work well, and can return a decent match to fixed tuned output rigs like my Yaesu FT100D without a tuner. With a GRC9, matching is duck soup.
