Well ER has come through again. In the January 2000 issue there is a
very interesting article by N3RZU about the RCA Aircraft Radio System.
This article concerns two of the rigs I have the AVR-20A and the
AVT-112A. I have not tracked down the article on the construction of
a solid state vibrator yet so I can get the RVT-15A fired up.
I get the most interesting stuff from my brother who is a science
teacher and amateur radio operator at a local Jr.High. He has a
hamstation set up at his school and has inducted numerous students
into Hamradio. What happens is he is given all of this stuff from the
estates of SK hams, or stuff local hams no longer want. He already
knows that if it has vacuum tubes in it to send it my way. Along with
these Aircraft radios I also got a BC-620 transceiver (part of
SCR-509, or 510) once I found out what this transmitter was for I gave
to a friend of mine who is a WW2 equipment collector and en actor. It
turned out he had a fellow en actor who has a fully restored WW2 jeep
and has been looking for one of these units for years. Now all he
needs is the vehical power supply for it. Isn't this stuff fun!
Merry Christmas
