[Motorola] an oldie but goody question concerning the Expo

They were submersible which was probably the biggest reason for the high cost.  But very small size for the time probably contributed to that high cost.  Although my recollection from '80s is that the cost was not as high as that quoted.  
There was a battery extension cable so the battery could be worn on the belt and the radio could be attached to a shirt epaulet and used like a speaker mic.  
There was also a unique volume control with a pushbutton switch on the shaft for use as the monitor switch.
