[Motorola] HT1000 Blues

Probably. But, before you write it off, try cleaning the side contacts and
the pins of the programming plug with a Gold Guard Pen or similar cleaner.
If not protected by the dust cover when a remote speaker-mike is not used,
the contacts can become contaminated with "grunge" and make a poor contact
with the programming plug. A few years ago, I had a dozen VHF HT1000 radios
in the fleet, and found that I would get random read errors if I did not run
the RLN4008B RIB on the wall wart AC power unit. The HT1000 seems to be
particularly sensitive to data voltages that are not exactly within spec.

Subject: [Motorola] HT1000 Blues

I was witness to an HT1000 being programmed by a Motorola programmer with a
battery that died while in mid program. The radio can no longer be read or
written to. The software now says, "no communication" or "check
connections" or "radio is off or malfuntioning". The cable and programmer
work fine on other HT1000 radios, now that it has a new battery. The radio
still receives and transmits , but all the PL information seems to be gone
and the transmitter stays on the about one second after you release the ptt
button. Is this radio now a piece of JUNK?
