Just use a dummy mike plug with a jumper to simulate the hang-up ground
connection.

I'm going to use the 1225 as a tone remote control station.  The interface 
will be done using a Remote Tone Adapter via the radio's rear accessory 
connector and a local desk mic plugged into the adapter.

I'd assume that there then needs to be a radio accessory connector pin 
programmed to get its mic hang ground from the adapter?
