[Motorola] Help!

This is a bit off topic, brand wise.

Our ARES group was given a donation of some Kenwood TK715 "RegioNet" 220
MHz radios.

We intent to use them as repeaters (2 units "back to back") and for
mobile operation in the 220MHz band as an emergency backbone.

The problem is this: Although we were furnished the programming software
we do not have the programming manual nor can we obtain any assistance
for this out of date product. We have been advised that the radios in
the RegioNet format are capable of "talk-around" operation but there is
no support forthcoming.

Why 220MHz? There are no 2 meter coordination's available in our area.
70cm does not do well in pine needle country. 220 is underutilized in
this part of the country.

I know some on this list are land mobile active or "retired"
technicians/dealers.

I would appreciate ANY assistance in locating or obtaining information
on HOW to program these radios. I have already figured out how to read
and communicate with the radios. What I need is the programming
instructions, especially on how to program simplex (talk around"
capabilities. i have tried to "write" the frequencies we need but get
"error 2" messages back from the test radio.

TIA.
