For those of you who want to install the voice storage option in a CDM1550
or CDM1550-LS radio, here is what you need:

1 each AAHLN9725C Voice Storage Option Board, $65
1 each RLN4823B Option Board Installation Kit, $15
1 each 6686119B01 Dismantling Tool, $3
T10 Torx Driver
T20 Torx Driver
Wrist Strap for ESD control while handling the CMOS Option Board

You will, of course, need to enable the VS option in CPS before you can use
it. The Voice Storage option does not work in the CDM750 or CDM1250 radios,
because the full display of the 1550 is necessary. Note that the
CDM1550-LS+ radio comes with Voice Storage as standard. Once I found how
handy the VS option was on my UHF (CDM1550-LS+) base radio, I wanted to add
it to my VHF (CDM1550-LS) base radio. One handy use is to let other
operators hear how they sound, by playing back their audio. The quality is
very good- not perfect, but darn close to true fidelity. You can also set
it to record any incoming audio, so you can hear what you missed. All of
the capabilities are covered in the CDM Radio User's Guide.
