Gil and the List
Thanks for the comments. I have an ACU-1000 and have been testing it on two
XTS-3000s,
and getting ahead of the learning curve- easy in the ACU-1000. I will soon
have to choose
the model of XTL-5000 mobiles for a proposed vehicle for the ACU-1000- e.g.
dash-mount, dual-head remote or single-head remote. I'm working on making
sure I can have a -COR-,
PTT and audio path on the accessories connector in all these XTL-5000
models. At this
point, I'm waiting for my rep to contact engineering.
Thanks,
Jay

As it happens, Jay, I have just finished a fairly large (50 vehicles) which
installed an ACU-1000 and three XTL-5000's in a self-contained transit case
which is mounted in a communcations van.

The radios I used were not dual-control head, but the dash-mount style. The
system functions very well. The ACU-1000 has been able, so far, to
withstand the riggors of being bounced around in the van (although the vans
don't go "off road." I do know that JPS makes a cable that interfaces
between the control head and the radio "brick" and provides the audio path
and PTT path needed by the ACU-1000. I don't know of anything that would
prevent you from using the accessory connector just as well. My vote would
be to go ahead with the project.
