[Motorola] XTS3000 RF connector?

Jay,

The special SMA-to-BNC adapter for the XTS3000 is Motorola P/N
5880348B33, for $ 31.50. The same adapter is also specified for the
Astro Digital Saber and HT1000 radios. I don't know why it is so
expensive, but what I DO know is that the similar adapters made by
Amphenol, Kings, and RF Industries do not have as long a throat as the
Motorola part. I found this out quite by accident when I used a similar
adapter, made by Amphenol for a Kenwood TK-380, to test an HT1000
radio. When I keyed the HT1000, I got less than 100 mW of power. I was
really surprised, because none of my HT1000 radios had ever failed the
power test. When I used the special adapter specified by Motorola, the
power output was normal. The ordinary SMA-to-BNC adapters can't go deep
enough into the antenna jack to make good contact with the center pin.
Be VERY careful not to assume that any adapter will work, just because
it fits!
