The XTS (and many others) use a special SMA connector commonly known as an
"SF".  It is similar to an SMA, except the dielectric is flush with the
center conductor on the antenna (female) side.  It's hard to explain, but if
you look at the antenna you'll see what I mean.  You can check out

the common handheld antenna connector types.
