Check here for a few answers to your questions:

As far as the Lab RSS goes, it's a version of the Radio Service Software
that is meant for use in Motorola's internal 'lab' and is not sold or
distributed to anywhere other than the big M's own service centers, also
known as depots. You can usually find it on the net in different places if
you look long enough though. Email me personally and I'll give you a few
suggestions. I don't want anyone to twist their panties over me giving out
links to places to 'illegally' download copyrighted software. So, i'll keep
it off the list. And, no I don't have it myself...I own no Maratracs.

Subject: [Motorola] Motorola Maratrac
Got a VHF Maratrac here, 110 watt, clamshell head. Looking for info on
getting it into the ham band. What work is necessary on this radio? Can't
find much for modification or conversion information on the net. Found a
vague reference to using a Maratrac Lab RSS to program it out of band, but
the local Motorola shop gave me a dumbfounded look when I asked about it.
Any help? Email me...
Thanks and 73,
Scott, KB0NLY
