Dennis,

One of the most practical solutions is to install a metal storage box
across the bed, immediately behind the cab. Using a hole saw, and
picking the location very carefully to avoid wiring or fuel lines, make
2-inch holes in line through the cab wall, the forward wall of the bed,
and the metal storage box. Insert a short length of PVC conduit or
oil-resistant hose through these holes, making a pass-through "tunnel" of
at least 1-1/2 inch inside diameter. Seal around the pass-through with
non-hardening silicone caulk or sealant at each of the three surfaces.
Now, you have a path for control head cables and power wiring. Install
gain-type antennas on the top of the box, keeping them as far apart as
possible. Be sure to bolt the storage box solidly to the bed box, and
install bonding braids across the lid hinges. Finally, select a box that
has "real" pin-tumbler cylinder locks, not one of the cheapie ones with
one-key-fits-all wafer locks.
