[Motorola] Mitrek Mods

I've built a VHF repeater with about 2.4 MHz frequency separation, as well
as a UHF repeater
with 3 MHz frequency separation- with adequate results, a small amount of
desense which
was probably more to do with my cheap cables/antennas than the radio.
I don't have the mods handy, but you'll be "duplexing" the radio- keeping
the receive
on while it transmits. I suggest bencing the radio with a control head and
setting the dev first.
Later, you can omit the control group. I unsoldered the excess cables from
the plug, added
my own cables, added an RF connector for the receiver and it made a nice
package.
I recommend lowering PA power, and adding a 12V fan near the heatsinks. I
used a
Comspec repeater tone panel/controller for mine.

Does a Mitrek have enough heatsink and shielding to make into a repeater?
Mobiles that use seperate transmit and receive strips make marginal
repeaters unless the power is turned way down, then they may become
unstable. Mobiles that have a unified chassis probably do not have enough
isolation to be used as a repeater.
