Subject: [RailScan] Motorola GP68 Programming Help Requested
I purchased a Motorola Portable GP 68 to use for mobile rail
scanning as a result of a few favorable prior comments from this
list and other places. I also use scanners, but wanted this unit for
added flexibility. This unit has a keyboard and is billed as "user
and field programmable"
From my research, most of these keyboard units are indeed field
programmable, but require the removal of "jumper R417" from the
circuit board, a procedure not obvious or documented. There also
may be a series of key strokes not readily published that can
accomplish the programming. Out of the box, this unit can search and
lock on to a single frequency, but the scanning feature, frequency
entry into a channel, and other similar features are not obvious. I
need field changeable programming for flexibility as opposed to
dealer fixed programming.
I have the document available from www.pe.net/~atd/gp68main.htm
which details the programming steps, but it's useless without
unlocking the unit to accept those strokes.
I would appreciate any help or source. Thanks in advance.
