[Motorola] TDN8310A DTMF Mic Question

Hi Gang:

I have one of these mics working with my MaxTrac 300 UHF radio that I use 
on a friend's
Amateur system.  It is an IRLP node (number  465) and I use the DTMF mic to 
bring up and
shut down the link.

Right now the mic emits tones of a predetermined duration, ie: very 
short.  Too short so
I have to use a workaround.  I have to press the first tone twice in order 
for it to accept the
rest of the tones in sequence.  I would  like to know if there is a way to 
modify or adjust the
mic so it will emit the tones for as long as the button on the pad is 
pressed.

If this feature is not available on this  mic can you tell me if there's 
another Motorola DTMF
mic model that will meet this requirement.
