[Motorola] IDEN mobile

Does anyone have any info on the IDEN mobile unit? 
This radio is about the size of a Radius and uses the same
microphone. It has a 25 pin connector on the bottom and
the one I have doesn't have anything in that connector. 
It does power up, but I get no "beeps or boops" from the
speaker. This was an Ebay "find" and the radio has a
SouthernLINK sticker on it. 

I also have a fairly new "base unit" that uses the mobile
unit (less front control panel) with a telephone-type handset/base. I 
used this unit many years ago and would like to get it working
again. I am assuming it should make some noise, even if it has not
been activated on the local network(?).
