Ken,

The manual says the speaker is 22 Ohms. I know
because I have been using a VHF Radius for packet and
had the speaker unhooked. Made the BIG mistake of
trying to drive the packet unit directly (you are not supposed to
ground either side of the speaker!!!). So, I borrowed a manual
to find out what I broke (lost the audio output). There is a
multi-pin chip for the audio stage which I will have to
replace. The manual states that the external speaker can
be 8 Ohms and will be driven to full output.
