I haven't used any of the Syntors yet, but have been collecting
information. Here is what I have learned so far.
The Syntor and Syntor X radios are programmed by programming a PROM.
So you need to get a PROM programmer.
The Syntor uses a bipolar PROM. A circuit board is available for
constructing a programmer for it, or you can substitute a newer CMOS
PROM and use more common PROM programmer.
The Syntor X uses an EEPROM (except for some early models),
IIRC it uses the 2816. Programmers for these shouldn't be too hard
to find.
Programming information is available on the web. If you go to
the batlabs site you find some useful information and a couple of links.
