It has been my experience and that of many others, there hasn't been a
screen modulation system yet that compares with plate modulation. 
Additionally, I'm not sure the 6AV6's would be of much value to you if
you did try it.  Also would question the overall value after you had to
make significant modifications to the rig.

For myself, I would set it aside until I could find an appropriate
transformer for it.  I might even try rewinding one before I cut up the
rig.

That being said, I believe there are a number of illustrations on screen
modulation in older Handbooks, that can get you going.
