This message was supposed to go in April's "Modulator" newsletter, but it didn't make it in for some reason. The New England QSO Party is this weekend so I would like to share the following article with you all since it is about that.
Vice-President's Message
Hello everyone. In this months newsletter I would like to share with you some information about an upcoming contest called the New England QSO Party. This is an easy contest to get started with if you have not had a lot of experience contesting and want to get your feet wet and have a little fun.
The NEQP isn't a long-duration "all-nighter" type of contest. In fact, there is a built-in break included and the contest times are Saturday, May 7th from 4 p.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday, May 8th from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. This makes it popssible for you to be competetive without having to stay up during all hours of the night. The exchange is also simple. All you have to send the other station is your callsign, signal report, county, and state. If you need a logging program you can check-out either N3FJP or N1MM Logger. Links to both can be found on the Contesting Page of http://www.mohawkarc.org under the Events tab.
I have operated in this contest for the past few years and have always enjoyed being the station that others are trying to work as opposed to being the one trying to work the other station. I have also always made it a side goal to work all the counties in New England during the contest, although I haven't reached it yet. If you have some spare time the weekend of May 7th and 8th sit down for a few minutes and make a few contacts. I hope to hear some of you on the air this year.

Doug
